45-Foot Sculpture Debuts on Embarcadero Plaza
R-Evolution by Marco Cochrane to be unveiled, featuring subtle breathing movements and night illumination
After a failed attempt to place the sculpture at Union Square, we finally get to enjoy the Unveiling of Marco Cochrane’s ‘R-EVOLUTION’ on Friday at Embarcadero Plaza across from the Ferry Building. The grand reveal of this kinetic sculpture will include live DJ performances, an artist market, a full bar, food, and a stunning light show.

An old map of San Francisco
Soar.earth aims to be the “digital atlas” of maps. There’s much to explore on the site, such as this Historical Map of San Francisco from 1903 provided by Stanford University.
What really surprised me about this map — which soar.earth allows you to navigate just like a Google map or thepark.today — is the level of detail as you zoom in. For example, the music plaza is captured down to neat rows of seats, depictions of statues, and even landscaping.
It’s fascinating to explore how our parks and neighborhoods have transformed over 120 years.
